About Courage Cards

Courage Cards began as a way to thank individuals and businesses who made donations to Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute (formerly Courage Center). At first, thank-you letters were mailed. As donations grew, letters were replaced by cards. People started asking if they could purchase the cards, and Courage Cards was born.

From the start, our mission has been clear: To support the work of Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute, which helps children and adults with disabilities lead better, more active and independent lives.

The first Courage Card, sent in 1958, was a two-color pencil drawing. Today, hundreds of artists from around the world submit work to our annual art search. Courage Cards are known for their original, exclusive, museum-quality artwork, most by artists with disabilities.

Thousands of Courage Cards are sent each year by businesses, organizations, and individuals. To date, Courage Cards has raised more than $6 million for Courage Center.

We're proud of the work we do, and we're proud of our customers - the caring and generous people who choose to send Courage Cards to their clients, colleagues, family members, and friends.

Customizable Courage Cards are available here on our website and through our catalog.

Boxed cards featuring art by Courage Cards artists are available at our community retail partners who generoulsly give 100% of the proceeds to Courage Kenny: Lunds, Byerly's, Bachman's, Rose Floral, Stillwater and County Market, Hudson.
